Papier Mâché Victorian Father Christmas

He is an original 6"tall Victorian Father Chiasmas. His head is sculpted from Papier Mâché. His pale blue eyes are glassine. His hair is made from sheep wool roving, the beard, moustache and eyebrows are Tibetan sheep wool. He has the same body as does the first Father Christmas on this page.( See picture of body)

I designed and sewed his clothes. His underdress is gold satin with a twisted golden bullion type trim at the neck and sleeve edges. His hooded coat is made from crushed deep wine coloured velvet lined in red and trimmed with recycled dark brown mink. The front closures on the coat are gold coloured buttons joined by a gold colour metal chains. He wears a pair of wool Norwegian mittens made by my husband and black leather boots. He belongs to my good friend Christine and she enjoys dressing him up in different costumes. Last Halloween he attended Christine’s Halloween party dressed as a wizard he was quite a hit with her guests. He is quite happy there.

When standing he is set up on a stand made of a wooden base with a flanged iron pipe screwed to that base, the iron pipe is inserted inside the copper pipe in the body therefore allowing him to stand. His under dress is Green Satin embellished with gold coloured braiding.
