Beige Victorian Father Christmas
This original creation is 42" tall. His head with shoulder plate is sculpted from Cernit (polymer clay). His eyes are brown acrylic. I made his white wig from sheep rovings, his beard, mustache and eyebrows were made from Tibetan sheep wool.He looks very peaceful and wizen with his wrinkled brow and soft smile. His body is made of stuffed cotton with a heavy wire armature. He stands on his own. His arms are movable at the shoulders and elbows so they can be positioned to hold something in his hands. I designed and sewed his clothes. He wears a light beige dress with long wide sleeves trimmed at the neck and cuffs with matching fancy braiding. His flared hooded long coat is made from antique light beige crushed velvet, lined with ecru silk lining and trimmed all around the front, hem and hood with light beige muskrat fur, recycled from an old coat. He wears brown leather mittens. In his left hand he holds a staff made from a dried apple tree branch wrapped around from bottom to top with an evergreen garland, a wired gold metallic ribbon decorates it's length ends at the top in a double bow with a wired wine colour top bow. In his right hand he holds a decorated carousel horse.
He is one of my favourites. He has lived in Australia with his new family for 3 years, one of my other Father Christmas, a 42" woodland father Christmas, has lived in Bermuda with his new family for 2 years. I think one of these days I will visit the kids.
